| Properties | Black purple acicular crystals. When exposed to concentrated sulfuric acid, it turns green and purple with the decrease of acidity. Soluble in acetone, ethyl acetate, benzene and thermoacetic acid, slightly soluble in ethanol, insoluble in water. |
